Programs

Welcome Party Jul 31st(Sun)

Chief: Maho Okada
Hi! The welcome party consists of two parts. An orientation (introduction of program, quiz, etc.) in the morning and the party in the afternoon!! Girls will be able to wear YUKATA, a traditional clothes of Japan. We are all waiting for you!! See you soon™

Japanese and Tradition Day Aug 1st (Mon)

Chief: Akiko Nishioka
We are going to hold a Japanese class in the morning and introduce Japanese traditional cultures after lunch. You will have an opportunity to experience Calligraphy, flower arrangement, origami, and Japanese games and toys.

Economics and Politics Day Aug 2nd (Tue)

Chief: Eriko Yoshida
We will learn about the Japanese economical and educational system. In the morning, we will visit the Tokyo Stock Market. In the afternoon, we will do presentations and discussions on each country's educational problems.

Cooking Day Aug 3rd (Wed)

Chief: Yuka Igami
DATE: Wednesday,August 3 TIME: 9:30am-4:30pm PLACE:Midorigaoka-Bunkakaikan(near Jiyuugaoka Station) We will cook and eat. Come join us! Let's enjoy Cooking Day !

Summer Camp Aug 4th (Thur)- 6th (Sat)

Chief: Hirotaro Kato
We will climb the beautiful Mt.Fuji, the highest and most famous mountain in Japan. There's no doubt in saying that we will make unforgettable memories throughout the whole trip!

Active Day Aug 8th (Mon)

Chief: Akihiro Maki
We will go to Sarushima Island.The island is simply beautiful with the white beach, transparent sea, and blue sky. Why do we call this island “Sarushima (Monkey Island)”? It's not because many monkeys live there but it's because it's said that once upon a time, a monkey who embarked on a boat discovered the island by chance... You will definitely enjoy this day!!

Sightseeing Day Aug 9th(Tue)

Chief: Miho Matsumoto
We're going to go sightseeing in Asakusa and Hamarikyu. Asakusa is one of the many traditional cities in Japan. It is the Tokyo's world famous downtown. Hamarikyu is a beautiful Japanese garden. From Asakusa to Hamarikyu, we will go on a water-bus down the Sumida River. We hope you will discover both the traditional and modern parts of Tokyo at the same time! Let's have fun!!

Independence Day Aug 10th (Wed)

Chief: Masahiro Kato
This day is very special since you can do anything you want!! Yes, you are FREE!! Each one of you will choose a starting point from the following three places: Shibuya, Ueno, and Yokohama. All of these cities are world-famous! The I.I.R. members will take you to many interesting place so enjoy this day to the fullest!!

Ecology Day Aug 11st (Thur)

Chief: Yoshinosuke Sunohara
On this day, we are going to listen to a presentation on CO2. The "Clean Energy Forum"of the NPO will give us this presentation. Afterwards, we will visit the inflammables incinerator and recycling center. We are hoping to discuss each country's environmental problems.

Original Day Aug 12nd (Fri)

Chief: Hiroki Wada
Original day is simply aimed to make all participants laugh and enjoy themselves!! First, we will enjoy the “Capping Game” in Shibuya. Shibuya is one of the most exciting cities in Japan. Each of you will perform a given mission while strolling the streets of Shibuya. Secondly, wil will go to a Japanese traditional bath. The place is very large with various types of baths such as the “Jet Bath”,“Massage Bath”, and "Sauna”. Afterwards, we will go clubbing and enjoy the last night of the Summer Program!!

Farewell Party Aug 14th (Sun)

Chief: Manabu Oba
This is the last day of the Summer Program 2005. All exchange students, host families and IIR members will participate in this party. We will show slides and video images and say our goodbyes... This will definitely become a precious memory of the program.Let's have a nice time!







Bringings


Welcome party
Please wear formal clothes. Also, before you come to Japan, be sure to prepare a PowerPoint or something that you can use to introduce your country. Please tell us your favorite song.

Cooking day
Please bring an apron and any ingredients that are not sold in Japanese supermarkets. Also, please remember how to cook your dish.

Summer camp
Please bring your country's alcohol. Don't forget your clothes, including rainwear, for the mountain climbing.

Active day
Please come in active clothes. Don't forget to bring a swimsuit for the beach!

Sightseeing day
Please come in active clothes, shoes, etc. since we will walk a lot. Be sure to consider the fact that you will be walking in hot weather. Reminder: Japan's summer is very humid!

Independence Day
This day is made for you. You can do anything you want whether it be sightseeing, shopping, etc. Please consider the fact that you will be walking in humid weather.

Ecology day
Please research on your country's environmental topics including problems and provisions.

Original day
Be sure to consider the fact that you will be walking a lot in humid weather. For the Japanese traditional bath, bring a towel (you can borrow towels, but it's not free) and some clothes to change in. You cannot wear swimsuits when taking the bath.

Farewell party
Please come in formal clothes. This is the last day of our program, so enjoy yourselves until the end. Let's make a wonderful last memory!
